She Flies

April 16th, 2005 by Kyle

My SAE plane had it’s first flight on Thursday morning, and things went very well. No noticable control problems or funny flying charactersitics. This means I’m headed to the West competition in Texas next weekend. As much as I would like to place well, I’m really just hoping that the event comes and goes without anything going wrong that I could have prevented. I’m ready for my responsibilites to be done and over with so I can enjoy my last 36 days of college.

Homophobic Texan!

April 10th, 2005 by Kyle

Dear Ms. Morrison,

I know who you are, and I know where you sleep. I have your phone number. Don’t believe me? It starts with a 294 and ends with a 1021, and I’ll be damned if I don’t know in which area code you reside. You’re not quite as anonymous as you think. Derogatory comments regarding this nation’s pastime notwithstanding, I would suggest thinking twice before posting homophobic epithets about those who enjoy their blogging.

I do find it rather interesting that you refrained from dropping a true f-bomb replacing it with the ever so quaint ‘friggin’, in the comments, but had no problem calling me a fag.

I fear for the future of our legal system.

Play Ball!

April 9th, 2005 by Kyle

I just finished watching my 1st full baseball game of the year. My Braves smote the Mets 6-3 bumping their record to 4-1. In the quest for a 14th straight division title, picking on the Mets is all in good fun.

Major League Baseball…I live for this!

Il Divo Sucks.

April 7th, 2005 by Kyle

Welcome to my personal quest to ensure Il Divo’s new record fails.

Why? You mean other than because they suck? For one simple reason, I hate dishonest marketing, and I hate amazon.com for doing it. As of today 1-6-05, Amazon lists Il Divo as a best selling record, despite the fact that it has yet to be released. THIS is the pop culture machine that killed pop music. The record company has obviously paid Amazon to list their new record as ‘best selling’ without it actually being so. I’m tired of it. Stand up people, and cast these Italian singing cover band monkeys back into obscurity.

Save the Music, Il Divo Sucks!

In it to Win it

April 7th, 2005 by Kyle

Been thinking a lot about motivation lately, and I’ve come to a disturbing conclusion: I am not motivated by rewards or reputation.

I submit to you as evidence, the last 3 weeks.

I have a job after graduation; all I need to do is pass my classes. D for Diploma! Thus far, I’ve had the easiest class load this semester since I was a Freshman. I am in no danger there. Nobody would think less of me for mailing it in right now. Decreasing effort is the logical move at this point. I should be enjoying myself drinking excessively lounging away my afternoons at the Crossing, indulging in all the typical college activities that I’ve never had the chance to enjoy before.

But instead, I’ve been putting in 12-hour days on SAE, and absolutely busting my ass to improve our AIAA design competition airplane report. Why do I do it? Because I said I would. I took the SAE project manager position last year, and I’ll be damned if I don’t finish this out with nothing left in the tank. I work on the AIAA design because it needs work. I’m a team member and if I’m conscious I should be working on it.

Illogical? Yes, but in the immortal words of Vanilla Ice:

“Any less than the best is a Felony”
