…so allow me to rant a wee bit:
Fuck the 9/11 commission. No, seriously fuck it. Not a single thing has been accomplished and all it's served to do thus far is to be a platform of partisan blamesmenship. Doomacrats saying Bush spectacular destroyed our national security in the 9 months of office from its glorious height of utopian peace we were at circa January '01. The 'Publican administration claiming it "did everything possible to prevent the attacks" and parading some there superior emphasis on raising our protection from the pre-Jurassic levels it was circa '01.
Here's the real deal: Everybody blew it. EVERBODY. Clinton was a pussy, and the 'publicans didn't care. Nobody of sufficient power understood the threat, and they’ve got nobody to blame but themselves. So that's why they’re blaming other people of sufficient power. If we could ever end this political grandstanding bullshit, maybe, just maybe we can go back finding more asses to kick. We're into serious "let he who is without sin..." time now (heh, biblical reference on Easter)
The longer superfluous bickering goes on, the less compassionate I get. If as a country, we're still bitching and moaning about who woulda/shoulda/coulda about 9/11 a year from now, I'm adopting the Swordfish foreign policy:
They bomb a church, we bomb ten.
They hijack a plane, we take out an airport.
They execute American tourist, we tactically nuke an entire city.
Our job is to make terrorism so horrific that is becomes unthinkable to attack Americans
Okay, time for bed, don't want to be late for Easter services tomorrow.

Posted by: Sarah at April 11, 2004 07:04 PMMoral high ground? If someone from another country or another religion has something against me and my beliefs, whoop-de-doo. Now, if he wants to make something of it and I am threatened, you had better believe that I would take action. The United States has an interesting policy when it comes to weapons development. We come up with all these really cool big bombs and stuff, but we don't use any of them when we are at war. I'm not trying to start a flame-jihad here or anything, but that seems fairly conservative and nonagressive. I see nothing wrong with swift, forceful annnihilation of an aggressor. If you blow up everybody who believes that you are bad, there won't be anyone left to say anything bad about you. Everybody is happy. Sounds simple to me. This is war. Why the hell we pussyfoot around while enemies strike ruthlessly is beyond my comprehension.
