The implications of Spain's impending Iraq pullout cannot be understated. The logistics of it aren't the problem; the loss of troops in one theater is relatively inconsequential in comparison to the message that the pull out sends.
The mere fact that this is happening blows my mind. I can't understand why any country, after getting jacked in the face by a terrorist organization, would concede and give in to that very same organization’s demands. It is cowardice, no getting around it.
Now that the socialist party rules, and this is their first act of duty, one thing becomes clear. The rest of Axis of the willing got screwed. It is a 100% guarantee that Al Qaeda will do this to another of our allies, and they will do it as soon as they can. So congratulations socialists, you signed the death certificates of 200 civilians in another country.
Bottom line: Spain is on the fast tract to becoming the new France.
UPDATE: after numerous discussions with classmates, it was decided by me that Spain earns the official TOG title of "France Jr.", and shall here to fore be addressed as such.
Posted by Kyle at 10:11 AM | Category: Far off LandsI could not agree more that Spain will become the next France. Especially since the new leader wants "magnificent" relations with the French, and "cordial" relations with the US and UK. Hmm...lets see...what good has come for anyone who has shunned the friendship and support of the US and UK? This complacency with terrorism makes me sick, and I too believe that this will make al Qaeda salivate at the idea of bombing some more civilians in random countries that they don't like. I'll tell you what, it doesn't make me feel too safe about having a prospective internship in London. I am pretty sure I'm not going to get bombed in Lawrence or Winnetka. And I'm even pretty sure that I won't get bombed in Chicago, because I'm certain some gang member would see said bomber and think "hey, that bitch is frontin on my territory" and promptly unload a clip on him, repeatedly instructing the terrorist that he should "break yoself!" while firing. And all else being equal, the security changes and the ever-watchful government would make it more difficult. Unfortunately, I have no idea what security is like in the rest of the world. I don't know if Spain has a Homeland Security department or a Defense Department with a gun-nut in charge. But yeah, the rest of the world? No idea.
